Havinge receaved the Queenes majesties most gracious lettres of the iiijth of
this present moneth with others from your honors bearing the same date
I haue not accordinge to my bounden dewtye omytted anye
diligent travell for thexentinge of the contentes therof wherin
if for the greatnes of thinges commytted to my charge I haue
not performed the same so absolutlye as your honors do expect
yet my desyr to do hyr grace service not onelye in these
affayres but also in all others wherin hir highnes shall
imploye me, is so great as non can haue more, hopinge
that my doinges herin shalbe suche, as nether hir grace nor
your Lordshippes shall have occasione to mislyke therof
And having in my laste lettres geven you to vunderstande of
the ordre taken for the safe custodye of the tresure
which shalbe in redynes when hir majesty shall require
yt I haue nowe accordinge to my later charge stayed
all the shippes of the . K . of . S . subiectes in Dart-
mowth & Plymowth in such ordre as I hoope shall
content your honor. the shippes ar verye great &
therfore the mor subiecte to wrake bysyde that the
one of them hath alreadye a verye great leake, I
I haue withall spead determynde to vnlade all the
pryncypall wares and marchandi[s]e & to seller yt
sorte yt as neare as I can in part of the

in suche a case lye in [....] for yt. for hard it is
amonge so manye to vse such circumspections as nothing
goe to wrake . but herof I wilbe a no lese carefull
then by resone of so great a charge I am most bownde
I haue in these affayres vsed the eye of Mr Richard
Roynaldes whose travell deserveth thankes of all other
thinges neadfull xxxxxxxxx to be advertised I haue re-
ferred yt to be signifyed by my servaunt the bearor
to whom I besech your honor to geve credyt & so
leavinge to trouble you any longer, I commytt
you to the tuitione of the most highest ffrom Cottnes
the xij of this present Januarye at iij of the cloke in
