How to Contribute
Images, transcriptions, corrections, suggestions, and items for the tool-kit may be sent to mail@helengood.com
I use Appleworks 6 and I also have Word, so I can read most attached files in either format, but my Wordperfect translator has broken. Pasting the transcription into an email or emails always works, though I have found that superscript is turned to plain script in emails. Images will be most useful as .JPG files.
If anybody has scanned pages from the Calendars (CSPD 1558-80), I can use them too.
If you want to send a large number of items and can use ftp, I can give you directions.
Footnotes (if you must) should relate to the transcription and not to the content and for emails should be placed in square brackets following the word or words to which they apply.
Your name will appear as the transcriber or contributor, so please give it as you wish it to appear, or you may chose to remain anonymous. If you wish to add a disclaimer for a rough transcription, that is quite acceptable. This is a work in progress.
I have been asked for transcription rules, but I am reluctant to make any in case it discourages contributors who use other rules. I usually expand most contractions and abbreviations and I give the thorn character as th. I am tending nowadays to modernise u and v and i and j, Anyone who needs to know if a letter was a u or av form should be looking at the original, not at a transcription. Transcriptions in modern spelling are also very welcome. In fact anything that is an improvement on the Calendar is very welcome.
